INTRODUCTION

A Modern Operation Theatre is a cornucopia of various state of the art machines & equipments. The set up, preparation and handling of these equipment then becomes a vital part of the functioning. Trained technicians are thus in high demand in this line of specialization. Operation theatre technology is meant to train the candidate in all the procedures in operation theatre.

The B.Sc. in Operation Theatre Technology is related to all the work and management of the operation theatre. The course prepares students for managing the patients as well as for monitoring the ins and outs of an operation theatre. During the study, the students are responsible for looking after all the 
surgical instruments as well as their sterilization. Students assist the surgeon during operations and closely look after the drugs, anesthetic gases, drapes and sterilization requirements during surgery. 

In addition, minor tasks of arranging operation theatre table, instrument table, anesthesia table and managing the staff prepares a professional Operation Theatre Technician. 

Operation Theatre Technicians are allied healthcare professionals. Their tasks include assisting Doctors in Surgery, arranging surgical instruments before surgery, sterilizing instrumentation before surgery, cleaning surgical instruments after surgery, carrying out Surgeons’ commands during surgery and taking care of anaesthesia equipment.

BSC IN RADIOLOGY AND IMAGING TECHNOLOGY – BRDIT

Radiologist, Physicians and surgeons who learn the highly-advanced skill of interpreting and diagnosing medical imaging are called radiologists. Assisted by technicians, radiologists use mammography, x-ray, MRI, fluoroscopy, and CT scans to identify illness and disease.


Medical imaging is the technique and process used to create images of the human body (or parts and function thereof) for clinical purposes (medical procedures seeking to reveal, diagnose or examine disease) or medical science (including the study of normal anatomy and physiology).

A Radiologic Technologist, also known as medical radiation technologist and as radiographer, performs imaging of the human body for diagnosis or treating medical problems.

The common subjects of basics in Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology, Microbiology, Surgery & Medicine taught in the 1st year will prepare the student to understand the nature of disease. The hands on experience in the department of Radiology from day one onwards will enable the student to understand the nature of the 
illness beginning with routine imaging to CT and MRI scans. The students will receive excellent and exhaustive training in these fields to be able to assist senior radiologists.

Speech therapy is an allied branch of health sciences related to the disorder of speech, voice, and language of a person. Speech therapy and audiology have become promising career options in recent times.

 Career Prospects

 The increasingly complex world has helped opportunities for psychology graduates to grow manifold. These range from working in hospitals and schools to NGOs and corporate houses. An undergraduate course in Psychology is career oriented as it offers a theoretical understanding of the major schools of thought along with providing practical skills in psychometric testing and various psychological tools. Specializations in the areas of Social Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Organizational Behavior (OB), Rehabilitative Psychology, Health Psychology, Sports Psychology and Medical Psychology are available. Those of you who opt for Counseling Psychology can further specialize in marital counseling, child counseling, family counseling, drug rehabilitation and trauma counseling.

 With a bachelors degree, the jobs you find will offer you less in terms of money as well as core psychological application. For example, you may find yourself working in an HR company in a lower position role, earning about 10–12K a month  . Clinical role would be difficult to assume since that requires a high degree of specialization. You could also get roles in counseling students in education centers. It will also earn you as much as the HR role mentioned before. Companies are not willing to pay graduates as much as they would pay post graduates in this field.

 So my suggestion would be to get an add on diploma if not a full fledged post graduate degree. Diplomas like Counseling and Child guidance would help you get Counselor positions in Schools, which is also a good option.
