Introduction:
Faculty development programs (FDPs) have proven to be successful for improving teaching skills in higher education. This review article summarizes literature reviews and resource books on faculty development. Faculty development has been defined as that wide range of activities that institutions apply to support faculty members' roles. This included programs designed to improve the performance of faculty members in education, research and administration as well as augmenting organizational capacities and culture. Faculty vitality is the main ingredient to enhance professional education and competence. Enriching the faculty vitality in key domains of teaching, assessing, research, professionalism, and administration is perceived to improve educational environment significantly and enhances the academic performance of learners.
Importance of FDP for management faculties:
1. Develop an appreciation for the teachers’ training in view of changing roles and responsibilities of business school faculty in the 21st century.
2. Understand the significance of alignment amongst the fundamental elements of effective teaching and learning.
3. Be able to suitably apply the principles of adult learning in varied learning contexts.
4. Be able to describe and choose from the signature pedagogies used in the management education.
5. Get motivated to use case method of teaching in appropriate learning contexts;
6. Become aware of preparations required for the successful use of case-based approach;
7. Become aware of elements of a good research proposal.
8. Get basic understanding of qualitative and quantitative data analysis tools and techniques.
9. Get acquainted with the use of selected qualitative and quantitative software, and
