Structure of Aviation industry

1. Airlines

Airlines are at the core of the industry, providing passenger and cargo services. They are classified as:

  • Full-Service Carriers (FSCs): Offer comprehensive services (e.g., Emirates, Lufthansa).

  • Low-Cost Carriers (LCCs): Focus on affordable, no-frills travel (e.g., IndiGo, Ryanair).

  • Charter Airlines: Operate on demand for specific purposes, such as tourism.

2. Airports

Airports provide the infrastructure for aircraft operations and passenger services. Major airports act as international hubs and manage security, customs, and logistics in addition to flight operations.

3. Aircraft Manufacturers

These companies design and build aircraft. Industry leaders include Boeing, Airbus, Embraer, and Bombardier. Aircraft manufacturing is capital- and technology-intensive, supporting both civil and military aviation.

4. Aviation Authorities

Aviation authorities are governmental or intergovernmental agencies responsible for regulating, supervising, and ensuring the safety, security, and orderly development of civil aviation. Their primary function is to create and enforce laws, standards, and procedures that govern all aspects of aviation activities.
