All seats have been filled in GGDSD College, Sector 32, which was the favourite for students for various courses. The next in preference was  DAV College, Sector 10, where most seats were filled, except BA where 200 seats are vacant, and some seats in MA (Sociology).

In the Advance Diploma in Medical Lab Technology, which was started by the college under the UGC Community College Scheme, 20 of the 50 seats are vacant. The college had received a grant of Rs. 92.30 lakh from the UGC for the course. MCM DAV College, Sector-36, is left with vacant seats in the post-graduate Diploma in Cosmetology and Beauty Care, which is a new course this year.

All seats were filled in  BSc (non-medical), which remained the much sought after course in all colleges this year.

However, there are 13 seats vacant in BSc (Computer Science-elective) and 15 seats vacant in BSc (Medical) in PG Government College for Girls, Sector-11. The seats belong to the UT general category pool, and will be converted to non-UT pool in a few days.

Girl students who have not got admission in any of the colleges can hope for admission in Guru Gobind Singh College (GGS), Sector-26 and Dev Samaj College for Women, Sector-46, where the seats are vacant in some courses. GGS College, Sector-26, has 33 seats vacant in BCA, 15 seats vacant in MSc (IT), 40 seats vacant in MA (Sociology) and MA (English) each. Dev Samaj College for Women, Sector 46, has  a few seats each vacant in BSc (IT), BCA, MA (Economics) and BA.

Admissions for vacant seats will be made with the permission of college principals, and a late admission fee of Rs 500 will be charged till July 29. Any admission after July 29 will be made with the permission of the PU Vice-Chancellor. Amidst high cut-offs and limited seats for other courses, students can still hope for admission in BA in almost all colleges, with the exception of  GGDSD College, Sector-32, and MCM DAV College, Sector-36.

Lockheed L-1011 TriStar 500 Long Range Widebody Airliner

Lockheed L-1011 TriStar 500 Long Range Widebody Airliner
The Lockheed L-1011 TriStar is a three-engine medium- to long-range widebody jet airliner for up to 400 passengers

produced by the US-American manufacturer Lockheed Corporation.
The L-1011 TriStar 500 (L-1011-385-3) is a long-range variant with shortened fuselage (-4,11m / 13ft 6in) and a capacity of

max. 315 passengers (typical 253). All other variants have a length of length 54,17m (177ft 8in) and a capacity of max. 400

passengers (typical 234). The TriStar was Lockheed's last commercial aircraft.
Much like the DC-10 (sans military involvement) the L1011 started with a request from American Airlines for a widebody

airliner smaller than a 747 that had similar, if not identical, range. The L1011, unlike its competitors, was a much more

optimized design. Though mechanics and engineers disliked an engine being hidden in an S-duct in the aft fuselage behind the pressure bulkhead, it was more aerodynamically efficient.
The Aircraft was one of the first to feature a truly  independent  autoland system (it was, indeed, the first aircraft the FAA certified for Cat-III-C autolandings), even automated descent

control. This aircraft was on the bleeding edge of technology. So advanced, in fact, that the original and long-term goals of
the L1011 were to manufacture it as a “jumbo twin”.
