A revenue analyst is a special type of accountant who keeps track of a company's revenue and looks for ways to improve it. This analysis is multifaceted. The revenue analyst tracks revenue over time and determines the direction of the trend. He determines how a company's revenue compares to competitors in the industry. The analyst breaks down revenue by individual product and service and determines which goods are making the company money and which are not. He matches revenues to expenses for each business segment to determine the relative profitability of each segment. A revenue analyst must possess an almost preternatural attention to detail and be highly accurate with his work.


Roles and Responsibilities : 


1. Analyze and maintain pricing structure and fare levels on assigned routes in the network in line with competitive actions and market demands with the objective to meet revenue and passenger volume targets of each route.


2. Evaluate trends in market conditions using information available through and from various sources, including market intelligence reports relative to competitor activities, political/economic trends/industry developments to make pricing and scheduling decisions.


3. Create a sell up plan for peak seasons and suggest proactive tactical measures to stimulate traffic during the low seasons to maximize revenue.


4. Recommend additional flights or flight cancellations based on demand on the flights, cost of operations and impact on customer service with the aim to capitalize on reduced operating cost.


5. Recommend aircraft swaps to optimally utilize capacity of the aircraft and to align capacity with changes in demand.


6. Conduct data analysis to identify passenger profile and booking behaviour including no-show trends. Use this information to optimize inventory and overbook flights on the assigned routes minimizing spoilage and spillage costs and maximizing revenue.


7. Evaluate and provide discount levels for group bookings involving the assigned routes with the objective of revenue maximization.


8. Conduct revenue integrity checks on the assigned routes to prevent loss due to seat spoilage on account of duplicate, fake and partly paid bookings.


9. Conduct user testing of revenue management and pricing systems and provide requirements to develop, implement and customize solutions.


10. Analyze respective routes where potential revenue increase can be adopted and suggest strategies.


11. Review forecast on weekly basis and adjust to ensure forecast accuracy maintained as per the departmental standards.

A young man meets an old man and asks him:

- Do you remember me Sir?

And the old man says NO.

Then the young man says that he was his Student.


And the Teacher asks:

- What are you doing, what do you do for a living?

The young man responds:

- Well, I became a Teacher.

- Oh, good, like me? - said the old man

- Yes. Actually, I became a Teacher because you inspired me to be like you.


The old man, curious, asks the young man what moment inspired him to become a Teacher.


And the young man tells the following story:


- One day, a friend of mine, also a Student, arrived with a beautiful new watch, and I decided I wanted it for myself and I stole it, took it out of his pocket. Soon after, my friend noticed the theft and immediately complained to our Teacher, who was you. So, you stopped the Class and said:


- Your friend's watch was stolen during Class today. Whoever stole it, return it.

- I didn't return it because I didn't want to.

So you closed the door and told us all to get up and you were going to rummage through our pockets until we found the watch. But, he told us to close our eyes, because he would only look if we all had our eyes closed.


So we did, and you went from pocket to pocket, and when you got to mine, you found the watch and took it.

You kept looking for everyone's pockets and when you said: - "Open your eyes. We already have the watch."


You didn't tell me anything and you never mentioned the episode. You never said who stole the watch. That day, you saved my dignity forever.

It was the most shameful day of my life.


But it was also the day my dignity was saved from becoming a thief, a bad person, etc. You never said anything to me, and even though you didn't scold me or call my attention to give me a moral lesson, I got the message clearly.


And thanks to you, I understood that this is what a true educator should do. 


Do you remember that episode, professor?


And the Teacher replies:

- "I remember the situation, the stolen watch, which I was looking for in everyone, but I don't remember you, because I also closed my eyes while looking.


This is the Essence and Joy of Teaching:

If to correct you need to humiliate; you don't know how to Teach.❣️


A good Teacher is like a four-leaf clover: hard to find, lucky to have. 


Everyone who remembers his own education remembers Teachers, not methods and techniques. 


The Teacher is the heart of the educational system. 


Let us remember: One book, one pen, one child, and one Teacher can change the world.


The mediocre Teacher tells. The good Teacher explains. The superior Teacher demonstrates. The great Teacher inspires.


Good Teaching must be slow enough so that it is not confusing, and fast enough so that it is not boring.


In an effective Classroom, Students should not only know what they are doing, they should also know why and how.


Good Teaching is one-fourth preparation and three-fourths theater.


The important thing is not so much that every child should be taught as that every child should be given the wish to learn.


The need for imagination, as a sense of truth, and as a feeling of responsibility -- these are the three forces which are the very nerve of education.


Teaching should be such that what is offered is perceived as a valuable gift and not as a hard duty.


Teaching is an instinctual art, mindful of potential, craving of realizations, a pausing, seamless process.


The Teacher’s task is to initiate the learning process and then get out of the way.


A Teacher affects eternity; he [or she] can never tell where his influence stops.


In Teaching you cannot see the fruit of a day’s work. It is invisible and remains so, maybe for twenty years.


The greatest use of a life is to spend it for something that will outlast it.


Thirty-one chances. Thirty-one futures, our futures. It’s an almost psychotic feeling, believing that part of their lives belongs to me. Everything they become, I also become. And everything about me, they helped to create.


Teachers are people who start things they never see finished, and for which they never get thanks until it is too late.


Teachers, who educate children, deserve more honor than parents, who merely gave them birth; for the latter provided mere life, while the former ensured a good life.

The weight of imposter syndrome can be soul-crushing. Especially, when numerous MBA application deadlines are nearing. The overshadowing worry you feel that you are not worthy to be accepted into business school is real. The good news is that this feeling of self-doubt is temporary and is often accompanied by a new role or an achievement.

Feeling like an imposter is a common feeling for many. And it’s especially common amongst minority students. The feeling of imposter syndrome is based on that “you’ve only succeeded due to luck, and not because of your talent or qualifications,” 

Brandon Monteith, a Harvard Business School alum, says he felt imposter syndrome throughout business school, despite being admitted to one of the top MBA programs in the world. He wrote about his experience with imposter syndrome for Forbes and offered a few tips for overcoming it.

“I was anxious—doing my best to defy my introverted tendencies, impress admissions officers, and make lasting connections with my cohort,” Monteith writes. “As I looked around, I just knew that I didn’t measure up. I was an imposter. This was a feeling I couldn’t shake even after I was admitted to HBS. Even after I worked through hundreds of case studies, passed exams, and walked across the graduation stage last May.

STAYING TRUE TO YOURSELF

Many feel imposter syndromes because they look around and don’t see others who look like them or have come from the same experiences as they have. And while this may contribute to feeling as if you don’t belong, Montieth says, being yourself is actually one of the best ways to overcome imposter syndrome.  

“Don’t try to fit the mold of who you think the archetypal ‘HBS student’ or ‘Kellogg student’ is,” Monteith writes. “Admissions officers have amassed a pretty large sample size at this point. They can tell the difference between genuine and feigned behaviour.”

BE OPEN-MINDED

It’s important, Monteith says, to keep an open mind throughout B-school – from exploring potential careers to engaging with others.

“As you explore post-graduation career paths, don’t limit yourself to what you wrote in your essays,” Monteith writes. “Have in-depth conversations with classmates from different backgrounds. Take classes outside of your comfort zone. Life may take you down a completely unexpected career path.”

FIND YOUR PEOPLE

For those suffering with imposter syndrome, it may feel like there is nobody who looks like you or understands your experiences. Despite this difficulty, Monteith says, it’s worth taking the time to learn the culture of your B-school and, ultimately, find your people.

“Every school has its own culture. Even if your personal values don’t perfectly align with those of your classmates and/or the administration, learn how to navigate it effectively,” he writes. “Lean on your community for support and become friends with people from your respective affinity clubs on campus. This is where you’ll find your ‘ride-or-dies’ for when times get tough.”

Today, psychologists estimate that 70% of people will experience these feelings at some point in their career, regardless of how successful they are. And taking time out of work to study an MBA doesn't offer any respite. With heavy workloads, constant deadlines, and a competitive environment made up of professionals at the top of their game, it's a shadow that irks many a student.  When experienced for an extended period of time, the effects of impostor syndrome can have a profound effect on your academic and professional life.

There are enough people in the world who will choose to put you down, do not let your self-imposed imposter syndrome do the job for them. The awards selection committees that presented you that award in college or at work did not make a mistake granting you that achievement.
